This is a collaborative post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I always feel most inspired by Autumn. I think it’s the cosy vibes that help me feel refreshed and ready to dive into my writing again. This is the season for creativity, inspiration and new ideas.

If, like me, you want to get creative this Autumn, I’ve put together 17 creative activities you can try out. Learn how to find inspiration and boost your creativity for the new season.

17 creative activities for Autumn

Let’s take a look at some fun, budget-friendly creative activities for Autumn. How do you like to get creative?

1. Journal about your day

Journalling is a great way to get creative without too much effort. You can use some Autumn writing prompts or simply tell a story about your day. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination!

2. Go apple picking

Apple picking is the perfect cosy Autumn activity. I always get my best ideas in nature, so wrap up warm for a thoughtful, wholesome apple picking date.

3. Write a piece of flash fiction

Flash fiction is a quick way to practice your writing. You don’t have to do anything with your piece – you can simply use it as a helpful writing prompt for creative inspiration.

4. Go to a wreath-making session

We associate wreath-making with Christmas, but you can make a wreath out of anything! Go to an Autumn wreath-making session or collect a few bits and pieces for yourself.

You can create your wreath out of Autumn leaves, pine cones, acorns and more. This is a great activity to romanticise your Autumn and connect to the new season.

5. Create your own candles

Autumn is Halloween season! Carve out a pumpkin or create your own candles. This is perfect for cold dark nights or any spooky plans you may have coming up.

6. Act like a tourist in your own home

Sometimes, you don’t need to go far to get creative. Why not try being a tourist in your own home? This can help you get a new perspective on your local area.

You could go for a wander on foot, drive to a nearby city or even hire a motorhome to explore your local countryside. Make sure to pack all the essentials for your creative Autumn day out – and get the right motorhome insurance before heading out on the road.

7. Look through your wardrobe

I love to clear out my wardrobe at this time of year. You can put away your shorts and Summer dresses – and get out all your jumpers and tights.

Creativity isn’t just about your next big passion project. It’s about looking for small ways to find creativity in the everyday. Refresh your wardrobe to get inspired for a new season.

8. Create an Autumn leaf collage

There are so many different types of creativity, so why not try something a little bit different this Autumn? Create a collage out of leaves to spark your inspiration.

9. Bake cinnamon buns

Cinnamon buns are the ultimate Autumn comfort food. Baking a batch of buns will make your house smell amazing – and it will get your creative juices flowing.

10. Take photographs on an Autumn walk

From local wildlife to gorgeous trees, Autumn is full of beautiful colours. Take your camera on your walk to come back with plenty of great photos and new ideas.

11. Cook a new meal

… and make it Autumnal! You could cook up something filling and warm like chilli or make yourself a comforting bowl of butternut squash soup.

Cooking doesn’t always have to be functional. Let your imagination go wild to create a delicious, cosy and creative meal for yourself or your family.

12. Make an Autumn iced matcha

I recently tried Blank Street in London, and they were advertising a cinnamon-based iced matcha for Autumn. Doesn’t that sound delicious? Save a bit of money by making your iced matcha at home.

You could add cinnamon, blueberry or chai for a tasty seasonal drink. Or if you don’t want to make it yourself, pop to your local café for an Autumn treat.

13. Read by candlelight

Why not take your cosy Autumn reading afternoon to the next level? Light some candles for the ultimate relaxing, creative reading experience.

Reading always makes me feel more creative. It gives me ideas for my own writing – and it encourages me to think about how other authors use language and prose.

14. Sew your own clothes

Sewing is a wholesome and mindful creative activity for Autumn. You can fix old clothes or add a special twist to one of your favourite Fall outfits.

If sewing isn’t your thing, try a different activity like knitting, crochet or cross-stitch. It’s all about tapping into different facets of your creativity.

15. Write a letter to future you

On my 25th birthday, I wrote a letter to my future self. This was a lovely opportunity to think about what I’ve achieved and where I want to go.

It’s easy to get bogged down in the everyday. Take time to write a letter to yourself or someone else. You might be surprised what ideas come out.

16. Visit a pumpkin patch

Visiting pumpkin patches has become very trendy in recent years, but they can be an opportunity for creativity, too. Take photos, write about your day or paint a picture inspired by your fun Autumn day out.

17. Paint a picture using only the colours you see outside

Autumn is known for stunning new colours, so why not take an easel or sketch pad to your local park? You can use the colours to inform your painting, whether you paint what you see or just use the season as your jumping off point.
