5 Tips to Add a Touch of ‘White Lotus’ to Your Next Big Trip

This is a collaborative post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

‘The White Lotus’ is one of the most popular modern TV shows out there – and it’s truly changed the way we travel. People are looking for holidays that ooze luxury and glamour. But hopefully not murder…

Adding a touch of ‘White Lotus’ to your trip is all about tapping into the feel of the show. It’s about decadence and all-around vibes, from finding the perfect location to looking the part.

Let’s take a look at 5 tips to add a touch of ‘White Lotus’ to your next big trip. Channel the uber-wealthy, but try to avoid the drama!

1. Browse for a resort

‘The White Lotus’ always takes place on a resort, so your ‘White Lotus’-inspired holiday needs to be in the right location. Choose a resort that helps you escape from your daily life – somewhere surrounded by beaches, wildlife or fun things to do.

Look for hotels that offer all the amenities you need, whether that’s stunning rooms, delicious food or plenty of activities for you and your kids.

The right resort for you will depend on the type of holiday you want. If you want to explore a new place, pick somewhere central. If you want to rest, relax and sit by the beach, somewhere with a private beach and pool might be best!

2. Pick out your best beach reads

‘White Lotus’ beach reads aren’t the same as regular beach reads. I love spotting what the characters in ‘The White Lotus’ are reading, from Elena Ferrante’s ‘My Brilliant Friend’ to ‘Blink’ by Malcolm Gladwell.

Every book tells a story about the character who reads it. The novels featured on the show feed into the plot and add to the tense buildup that makes ‘The White Lotus’ so iconic.

For your next holiday, choose a few books that match the feel of your trip, or simply pick out some of your favourite novels to read on the beach.

This is a great way to romanticise your Summer holiday reading. When I went to Crete last year, I chose a book set in Greece. It was an evocative novel about a group of sisters coming of age in the hot Greek countryside. This helped me really immerse myself in my trip.

Pick out books that speak to you – and don’t forget to whip out your book by the pool for ultimate ‘White Lotus’ vibes!

3. Dress the part

The characters in ‘The White Lotus’ are always dressed to impress. Every outfit is perfectly chosen to reflect that person’s wealth, privilege and experiences on the show.

When I think of ‘The White Lotus’, I see floating dresses, wraps, bikinis and all the most expensive brands. I see men in white trousers and loose shirts, and women in bright colours, swimwear and plenty of artfully chosen jewellery.

Put together a few beautiful outfits for your next trip. You could pack plenty of maxi dresses for long, hot days on the beach, or try out a new bikini by the pool.

You don’t have to spend a fortune on your wardrobe to look like you’ve stepped right off the set of the show. Choose loose dresses, big hats and movie-star sunglasses to add an instant touch of glamour.

4. Hire a yacht

Nothing says ‘White Lotus’ quite like a luxury yacht. I mean, a boat sits centre stage to one of the most shocking, tragic (and hilarious) deaths of the show.

Luxury yachts are available for charter worldwide. You can get together with friends or see the sights with your partner.

This is a great way to add a touch of ‘White Lotus’ to your next big trip. You can take a proper break from work, show off all your new outfits and snap plenty of photos for Instagram – all in true ‘White Lotus’ style!

5. Start a holiday friendship

‘The White Lotus’ is filled with romance, friendship and plenty of drama. While it’s advisable to avoid the drama, forming new relationships on holiday can be a fun way to make the most of your next trip.

You could chat to other holiday-goers at your resort or join up with solo travellers to enjoy a bit of company while you explore a new place.
