But sometimes you just need to cook up something quick for lunch, and it’s always a good idea to have a few easy recipes up your sleeve. Maybe you need to finish off a project before the end of the day, or maybe you’ve got a meeting first thing after lunch.

There are lots of affordable lunch ideas that you can make at home — and you don’t always have to sacrifice health or taste. Read about some of my favourite affordable, easy lunch ideas for remote workers.

- Omelette – serve with toast, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans or salad
- Chickpea fritters – find a full recipe on the BBC Good Food website
- Instant noodles or Cup-a-Soup – great if you need a quick meal on the go!
Filling lunch ideas
If you’re working from home, you need to find delicious, filling lunch ideas. Whether you’re providing remote translation services or you’re off to a client meeting, these lunch ideas will give you enough energy to get through the afternoon.
- Spaghetti bolognese
- Jacket potato – add all your favourite toppings, including tuna, beans and cheese
- Beef or vegetable burrito

Healthy lunch ideas for freelancers
There are lots of easy recipes that are super healthy, too. I’ve put together some healthy (but easy) lunch ideas for freelancers and remote workers — including a few options for veggies and vegans to try out.
- Chicken or chickpea salad – add couscous for a delicious twist
- Avocado on toast – as an added bonus, it only takes a couple of minutes to make!
- Tuna pasta
- Chicken soup – don’t forget to serve it with plenty of bread
Indulgent lunch ideas
One of my favourite things about freelancing is that I can make whatever I want for lunch, and sometimes, that includes indulgent and delicious dinners.
Gone are the days of making a rushed packed lunch in the morning, and I love coming up with inventive meals as a lunchtime treat. I’ve put together some tasty, indulgent lunch ideas for remote workers.
- Falafel flatbread – serve with hummus or tzatziki for a hit of flavour
- Quiche Lorraine
- Lasagne
- Mini pizzas – make them yourself or get a couple from the supermarket
- Beef, chicken or veggie tacos

Terrific! I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent googling “easy lunch ideas” this year. I like the sound of chickpea fritters especially. The smart money is also on making enough dinner the night before that you can slop out the remainders for lunch the next day.

My lunches are always rather uninspired so reading this gave me a few ideas to step up my lunch time game! I love soups and quiches, that would make my day right if I had those. Great collection of ideas!
