Passion is an important part of life. It encourages you to feel motivated — and it can bring joy into your life, whether that’s in your work or your hobbies.
With adult responsibilities, finding passion in your life isn’t always going to be your top priority. However, there are plenty of small ways to inject a bit of passion back into your life.
Whether you’re thinking about starting a passion project or you’ve lost joy in your work, I’ve put together 10+ activities to inject a little passion back into your life. Read on to find out more!
Why is passion important?
Passion plays an important role in how you feel about your work, your relationships and your social life.
Instead of just slogging through the days, passion helps you stay in the moment. It might be about stopping for a second to think about what you love or taking the time to start a new venture.

Finding passion in your life can also help to bring joy and excitement back to other areas of your life, such as your work.
We’ve all experienced that feeling when your work days just become about getting to 5 p.m. – and that’s okay. But finding something that helps you feel passionate can bring joy back into your job – and it encourages you to feel just a little happier.
10+ Activities to Inject Passion Back Into Your Life
I’ve put together 10+ activities to inject passion back into your life.
These activities can help you feel inspired by taking a moment out of your daily life — and they are all simple and affordable. I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments!
1. Head into nature
Exploring nature is a simple, quick and affordable way to inject a bit of passion back into your life. As you walk, you might see something that gives you an idea or you might find a bit of mindfulness.
Heading into nature can also help you feel inspired. You’ll see animals, trees, flowers and plants — and the natural world can really give you some perspective when you’re feeling stuck.
2. Start a passion project
If you want to bring a little passion back into your life, why not start a passion project?
A passion project is something you do that’s just for you. You don’t necessarily want to make money from it and there’s no one telling you how and when to do it. This can give you a chance to explore a hobby or try out something new in a safe and fun environment.
There are lots of different passion projects, such as writing a book or learning to dance, so make sure to find the right passion project for you. It needs to be something that brings you joy – and helps you take a step away from work.
3. Play a musical instrument
Music is a very passionate activity, whether you’re learning for the first time or you’re a professional. I can’t play a musical instrument — so my alternative is singing my favourite song at the top of my lungs.
Singing along to a song can make you feel so many different emotions. It can help you feel sad or happy or energetic or even inspired!

It can also help you focus on something different — and I think we all feel a little more joyful after playing or listening to one of our favourite songs.
4. Write a journal entry
Writing a journal can help you work through anything that’s going in your head, and it can help you feel present, mindful and grounded.
When I’m working on a new project and I’m stuck for ideas, I like to write down my thoughts by hand. Whether you’re working on your translation services or you need to write a new blog post, writing a journal entry can help to spark new ideas.
5. Listen to a podcast
Listening to a podcast, or watching a video, can help you understand new ideas and take a moment to reflect. I think it’s very easy to get bogged down in our daily lives – especially with work, school and family pressures.
However, taking a moment to watch something different or listen to a new perspective can open up your mind. Listening to a podcast might give you an idea or you might just feel a bit of passion for a subject that interests you.
For example, if you love cooking but you don’t get a chance to do it, why not listen to an interview with a famous chef? Or if you love gardening, watch a video about someone’s garden renovation. This could inspire you to start your own project!
6. Visit a museum or art gallery
I love visiting museums and art galleries. There’s something about these spaces that makes me feel inspired and creative, especially if I’m stuck in a rut.

If you want to bring a bit of passion back into your life, a museum trip is a great place to start. It can help you appreciate the work of other people or discover something new.
Check out my ebook ‘The Art of Balance‘ for more tips to add passion to your life – including guides to avoid burnout, set boundaries and find your joy.
7. Read a book
Reading a book is a great way to really get lost in someone else’s life. You could read non-fiction or fiction, but what matters is taking that time away from your daily life to consider something different.
I love losing myself in fiction, particularly on the weekend, as it gives me a chance to escape reality for a few hours, and I always feel more energised and inspired after reading a good book.
8. Enjoy a bit of nostalgia
If you want to inject some passion back into your life, enjoy a bit of nostalgia! You could:
- Visit a place that’s special to you or that reminds you of your past self
- Cook a family meal
- Watch a film from your childhood
This can help to remind you of things you used to like and bring a bit of that passion back.
For example, I used to love historical fiction shows, but I got out of the habit of watching them when I went to University. So, I recently started watching all the shows I used to love, like Poldark and Mr Selfridge.
It’s helped me feel passionate about history again, and it’s reminded me how much I love learning about past eras.
9. Gardening
Sometimes injecting a bit of passion into your life is all about finding an activity that you love to do. Gardening is a fun, stress-free way to spend time outside — and there are endless possibilities if you really want to get stuck into a new activity.
If you don’t have a garden, you could grow some indoor plants. Looking after plants can be calming and mindful, helping you stay present.
10. Take a random day off
If you feel like you’ve lost passion in your work, take some time off. And not just for a holiday or for a specific purpose. You could get lost in a good book, go to a new place for inspiration or work on your passion project.
I guarantee you’ll go back to work feeling energised and more passionate about life — and your mind will thank you for the break.
11. Get lost
Getting lost is a great way to find somewhere new, and it can add a little passion and inspiration to your daily life. Go for a walk in a new place in your home town and just let yourself wander.

I like what Jessica Rose Williams says about getting lost. She writes about following your intuition and seeing where it takes you — within reason, of course. If you’re visiting a new city, try exploring without following a specific route, as this can help you find new, hidden places to check out!
12. Find a space that’s just for you
All too often, your work life can start to encroach on your home life, especially if you’re a remote worker. Finding a space that’s just for you is so important. It’s a place where you can sit and reflect without distractions from work or family.
When I’m working on my book idea, I like to write in cafés or at my dining room table. This is because my desk is for work, and so I don’t want to use it unless I’m writing for my clients. This gives me a good work/life balance — and it means my passion projects don’t start to feel like work.
Do you have any tips to inject passion back into your life? What’s your favourite activity? Do you like to stay present?

Listening to, and playing, music is one of the key ways I get inspired so I loved seeing it sit at number 3 on your list. As you said, it can be difficult to take the time to find our what you’re passionate about as an adult – but it’s so essential.

Yes I love listening to music 🙂 I think as a child/student it’s easy to find things you like, especially if you learn a subject in school, but that’s so true – finding passion as an adult is harder x

These are some really good ideas to get motivated again. I have done most of the things in this list in the past to refresh my passion and motivation, and I can say they do work. Lately, I’ve been taking breaks to do nothing. That’s working well for me too. Lovely post!

I need to make some time to listen to some podcasts again, I have a few favourites that I haven’t stayed up-to-date with (thanks for the reminder). I also need to make sure I get out in nature more. I love these suggestions as there is something (or a few things) for everyone to get into.
