10 Unique Activities For Creative Students

AD – This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I was a student, whether in school or University, I found it hard to relax after studying all day – and I really lacked creativity when it came to my hobbies.

Watching Netflix and socialising are great ways to relax, but as things start to get busier, getting creative can add a bit of variety to your day.

It’s fantastic if you need some inspiration – and creative activities encourage your mind to focus on something other than your studies.

In this blog post, I’ve put together 10 fun and unique creative activities for students

Bake

Baking is perfect if you’re looking to take a study break – and you can enjoy a treat at the end, too! I love watching Bake-Off to get a bit of inspiration for new creative ideas.

Get Writing

Write in a journal or express your thoughts in a short story. Focusing your energy on a writing project can be a great way to switch off and inspire a bit of creativity.

Writing down your thoughts can also be very helpful for your mental health, or if you need to work through some emotions.

Create Your Own Cards

Get creative and make gorgeous cards for your friends and family. Mother’s Day is coming up or you could create cute Easter gifts for your family this year.

Decorate Your Notebooks

When I was younger, I used to love decorating my school books – and this doesn’t have to change when you get older! Decorate your folders or notebooks and personalise your revision materials.

Start a Blog

Starting a blog really helped me express myself as a student – and it’s helped me understand what I want to do with my career, too.

One of the biggest challenges of starting a creativity blog or site is choosing the right graphics and fonts. You can find brilliant font freebies online, with designs and images that can help you with your digital creativity.

Snap Some Photos

Get out and take some photos! You could travel to your local nature spot or snap pictures of your friends and family.

If you’re a photography student, you can practice your skills – or you can enjoy taking photos purely for fun.

Start an Art Project

Drawing or painting is such a good way to switch off and turn your focus to something else. I love the concentration and relaxation that comes with completing an art project.

Make a Creative Schedule

Instead of just writing a to-do list or timetable, why not make your schedule a little more creative? I know a lot of people like creating bullet journals, or you could draw yourself a creative timetable full of colour-coding and aesthetic designs.

Create Your Own Bunting

My brother always makes creative bunting for different occasions – and it can be a fun way to decorate your bedroom or any communal areas.

Make a Photo Collage

I love decorating my space with pictures and mementos – and I think every student has had a photo collage on their wall at some point in memory of home.

Make your photos into a fun collage or pinboard – and add lots of creative bits and pieces to your walls, including postcards, artwork, magazine clippings and your favourite quotations.

Do you have any unique creative activities? Do you enjoy getting creative? What’s your favourite way to relax?

  1. I got creative over Christmas by making and sending cards to my friends which I really enjoyed. I’m not very creative at all and can actually find it quite overwhelming tbh! Xo

  2. Whenever I’m on a study break I try to do something that will get me off my butt, like playing with the dogs – they love it. Anyway, great tips 🙂

  3. These all sound like such fun ideas! I started baking during the first lockdown because I had so much time on my hands and I really want to pick it up again. In the meantime I’ve found a job and therefore less time, but I’m really going to get back into it now, because it’s so relaxing as well. Thank you for the tips!

  4. Baking has been one of my favourite lockdown activities. I never seem to have enough time for it when I’m working full-time. I’ve also had a keen interest in photography for a while so I’m hoping to learn more about that so I can improve 🙂

  7. These are really great suggestions! There are a few things that I do to help myself relax – baking is a must and normally that’s just me experimenting with whatever is in the house, the other main one is to take the dogs out. I can’t wait for when the weather starts getting warmer and I can just spend the day outside with them, that would be perfect!
