5 Tips to Get Your Wardrobe Ready for Autumn

AD – I was gifted products in exchange for this blog post.

It can be fun to get your wardrobe ready for Autumn – and it can get you thinking about how you want to dress for the new season. Maybe you’re looking forward to layering up? Or maybe you need a new coat to keep warm?

Getting your wardrobe ready for Autumn isn’t about buying lots of new clothes. It’s about looking through your wardrobe and coming up with outfits that can help you feel happy, confident and comfortable as we go into the new season.

So, how can you get your wardrobe ready for Autumn? Read on to find out!

Choose layers

It seems like an obvious one, but choosing layers is a great way to get your wardrobe ready for Autumn! Look through your clothes and think about which ones you can wear over each other to create a stylish (but super warm) Autumn outfit.

You might be able to wear a t-shirt under one of your Summer dresses to make a cute pinafore look, or you could wear a jumper over a collared shirt to create a fashionable and comforting outfit.

Choosing layers will keep you warm during the new season. You might also find that an outfit you reserved for Summer is suitable for Autumn and Winter with a few tweaks.

Choose a comfortable coat

A comfortable coat is so important when getting your wardrobe ready for Autumn. Let’s be honest, chances are you’ll be wearing your coat a lot during the cold Autumn months – so you need something that feels comfortable and complements your outfit.

Think about what will make you feel good. I like to wear dark colours, like blue and black, and I also don’t like long coats as I’m quite small.

My Autumn coat this year is from Lighthouse Clothing. It’s a great waterproof jacket and I don’t feel like it takes away from my outfit. It’s also not heavy or restrictive, so I can slip it over all my outfits everyday!

Accessorise

Get your wardrobe ready for Autumn by accessorising your outfits. I always take a pair of gloves with me wherever I go, but you could also get out your Autumn scarves and boots, too.

If you like to wear dark colours like me, you could use your Autumn accessories to add a pop of colour to your outfit. There are so many gorgeous Autumn hues that can add a cosy touch to your outfit, like orange, red or yellow.

Get out your tights!

Autumn is the perfect time for tights. You could choose some traditional nylon tights to go under your favourite dresses or skirts – or get a little creative with your legwear.

There are loads of fun, patterned tights out there, such as cats or polka dots, or you could play around with different materials to get cosy this Autumn.

Reuse, reduce and recycle

Get your wardrobe ready for Autumn with a huge clear-out!

There’s something so satisfying about going through your clothes and getting rid of anything that doesn’t fit anymore. Once you’ve sorted out your wardrobe, you’ll know that everything in there suits you – and it’ll make it a little bit easier to choose an outfit every morning.

Don’t forget to take your old clothes to your local charity shop or sell them on Vinted.

You could also look through your Summer clothes and see if there’s anything you can re-purpose for Autumn. Just because something is too cold to wear on its own, it doesn’t mean you can’t layer it up with other clothing items.

  1. I love layering with a shirt. I love checked shirts but I am also fond of wearing a simple white shirt on top of a tank top. Thanks for sharing a timely post to welcome the pre-winter chills.
