I talk a lot about my favourite films and shows here on my blog, but I came to the realisation the other day that there are so many “classic” films I’ve never actually watched!
These are the kind of films that my followers are always recommending, and the kind of films that always make their way onto “must-watch” lists.
Now, I don’t personally believe you should watch anything just because critics or other recommend it- but these are a few choices I would like to eventually get round to watching in the next few months.
So, these are 4 classic films I’ve never watched- and hopefully one day will get round to watching!
Gone with the Wind

I’ve still never watched this classic film- probably because of the sheer length of it! Based on a turbulent love affair between two controversial characters- and set in the American South during the time of Reconstruction- I think this sounds like the perfect insight to a period of American history. But at 3 hours 58 minutes, I’m not sure my modern attention span can last that long!
Fatal Attraction

This film is definitely one that I mention all the time- and “bunny boiler” is one of my favourite phrases… But I’ve never actually seen the 1980s classic film the phrase is based on! This film is about Dan, a married lawyer who gets into an affair with his colleague, Alex. She soon gets obsessed with him, trying to sabotage his married life. I really want to check out this “classic” film soon!
Pulp Fiction

I’ve heard so many good things about this one, but I’ve always stayed away from Tarantino because of the violent aspects of his films- and I’m sure this one is no exception. However, I really want to check out this one- even if it’s just for the iconic Travolta dance scene that I’ve seen re-created so many times!
Casablanca

This is one of those films that’s always held up as one of the “greats” and I’ve always fancied trying it- especially as Lorelai raves about it in ‘Gilmore Girls‘! Set during World World Two, a night club owner, Rick, tries to help his former lover, Ilsa, and her husband.
However, Ilsa’s feelings for Rick resurface, and this film is all about the lovers. This film is in black and white, and so that makes it all the more enticing!
Are there any “classic” films you’ve never watched? What is your favourite film? Do you think there’s a film I should add to my never-ending list?
Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below 🙂
Happy reading x
Wow how strange! That’s good that you’ve found some to catch up on, there’s so many classics I still need to watch x

The first classic that comes to mind that I haven’t watched is The Sound of Music, really want to see it, and yet I just never seem to get round to it. Some great choices on your list 😊

Ooh that seems to be a common one 🙂 thank you- I recommend the sound of music!

I’m not even sure if I’ve seen these either! I think I’ve seen so many clips or dipped in and out of them when they’ve been on the TV that I assume I’ve actually watched them. I’ve read Gine With The Wind but must get around to watching the movie!

Yes I’m the same with iconic films! I might have to read it, that’s a very good point 🙂

I saw both Fatal Attraction and Pulp Fiction at the cinema, but have yet to see Gone With the Wind Or Casablanca. I definitely want to see Casablanca but not that bothered about GWTW now that I you’ve told me it’s just under 4 hours long!

I really want to see Casablanca too! Yesss it’s one of those old films that’s unbearably long for our modern attention spans x

Wow I’ve never seen any of these as we weren’t allowed to watch such films as a kid then I just forgot about them! Might watch them!

I haven’t watched any of these ever and I feel like “I should” another one I’d add to the list is Sound of Music lol

I used to love The Sound of Music haha, you definitely shouldn’t watch them, only if you want to 🙂

I have seen them all. The best of the bunch, in my humble opinion, is Casablanca. I think you need a little fun and should add Arsenic and Old Lace to your list. Thanks for a fun pos.

This is a really interesting post because I’d never really thought about that fact I haven’t seen most of these. I’ve seen Fatal Attraction and that was so strange but I quite enjoyed it 🙂

GWTW is a southern classic and being from the south, it is my favorite movie of all time. Of course, it is very long and may be hard to find in DVD now since our government has decided to declare it racist. I really enjoyed The Sound of Music and the 007 movies that I am watching again with my husband. Date night inside the house!

Wow that’s great! I loved The Sound of Music too, those are fantastic date night ideas x

I haven’t seen 3 out of 4 of these. I have seen Fatal Attraction. It’s pretty scary in my opinion. Anything with children involved upsets me though 😥
The rest I really don’t care to watch just because other people have spoiled them.

Ooh yes maybe I’ll have to cross it off my list then! That’s fair enough 🙂

I haven’t seen any of these! I’m glad I’m not the only one. I completely agree with you about Casablanca- I initially wanted to see it because of Gilmore Girls! There are so many film and book references in that show that it grew my to watch/to read list very quickly.

Omg I’m so glad you said that because that’s literally one of the reasons I want to watch it so much! When she has a go at Luke because he hasn’t watched it, I always feel shamed… x
