My Top 5 Christmas Comfort Foods

I recently wrote a post all about my favourite Autumn comfort foods – and I received such a lovely response that I decided to write a similar post with all my favourite Christmas comfort foods.

Food is a huge part of Christmas! From chocolate gifts to delicious desserts, I think we all like to indulge in a few treats at this time of the year.

In this blog post, I’ve put together my top 5 Christmas comfort foods, including favourites that I can’t wait to enjoy this year!

1. Chocolate

Christmas definitely is the season for chocolate. There are so many chocolate treats to enjoy – and I love to stuff my face with all of them!

I love chocolate coins, selection boxes, biscuits… the list goes on! I even make chocolate pistachio fudge every year for my family, and this is one of my favourite Christmas Eve traditions.

2. Pringles and salted peanuts

Pringles and salted peanuts are delicious at any time of the year – but they are a special delicacy around the holiday period.

I love enjoying a handful of crisps with turkey sandwiches, or just gorging on Pringles while I wait for Christmas dinner. The period between Christmas and New Year is definitely the time to snack on Pringles, too.

My Mum even has to hide the crisps at the back of the cupboard to make sure we don’t eat them before the big day comes!

3. Turkey and stuffing sandwiches

After Christmas dinner is over, me and my family enjoy lots of turkey and stuffing sandwiches from the leftovers.

Although I LOVE the turkey dinner, there’s something so special about enjoying a sandwich while watching awful Christmas TV or playing a board game in the evening.

Most families make too much turkey on the big day, so you can enjoy these comforting sandwiches for a few days.

4. Roast potatoes

Roast potatoes are a Christmas classic here in the UK! I love filling up on crispy roast potatoes at Christmas dinner, alongside parsnips, brussel sprouts and carrots.

We don’t tend to have roast dinner a lot at home, so these roast potatoes are a tasty, warm and comforting treat for the festive period.

5. Viennetta

Viennetta is a Christmas pudding staple from Wall’s!

Made up of layers of creamy vanilla ice cream and solid, rich chocolate, this ice cream has been a traditional Christmas dessert choice for families across the UK since 1982.

We only ever eat this delicious ice cream at Christmas time, so it tastes just like the festive period for me.

  1. Oh, my goodness Viennetta is such a blast from my past; my family used to have this for special occasions when I was a child! I think my Christmas comfort foods are hot chocolate, mince pies and roast potatoes. The smells of them at this time of year makes me feel so cozy and happy.

  3. I would have a hard time narrowing down into a top 10, much less a top 5! That’s when generalized statements like “chocolate” comes in handy. Ha! Now I’m off to do some snacking. Thanks!
