Content repurposing is your secret superpower as a blogger, business owner or creative! It can help you reach out to new readers, grow your audience and stick to a posting schedule.
Let’s take a closer look at how to use content repurposing for your blog and social media channels. How can you make the most of what you already have?
What is content repurposing?
Content repurposing is the practice of reusing existing content in different formats. You might adapt your blog posts into social media posts, or use your newsletter as the basis for a video script, for example.
You can target different readers on different platforms – and you’ll always have something ready to post on your blog, social media or website.
As a blogger or business owner, it can be so hard to stick to a regular posting schedule. You have a million things to think about – and creating new content isn’t always high on your list. So, think about what you already have.

You might condense your blog post into a short social media post, or you might use similar copy from your newsletter on your business website.
For example, earlier this year, I wrote an article for LinkedIn. However, once I created a proper website for my business, I used the article as the basis for my first blog post. I didn’t directly copy and paste the full article, but I reused some sections as my starting point.
Once you’ve created your content – whether it’s images, audio, videos or words – the options truly are endless!
3 tips for content repurposing
Here are some tips for content repurposing as a blogger, creative or business owner, including my tips to build your content and reach out to new readers.
1. You’re the only one who cares
I’m sure that’s not true! But it’s easy to think that other people are watching you as closely as you’re watching yourself. If you want to repeat an idea or repurpose your online content, do it!

Don’t overthink repurposing content from X, LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters, blog posts or your website. It’s okay to use the same idea multiple times or reuse your visual and written content.
That said, it’s important to use your common sense. Don’t simply copy and paste on repeat. Instead, be smart about how you use what you already have. Translate your ideas into different posts or media types.
2. Add value
Repurposing your content can help you keep up with your blog and social media channels. It’s a fantastic way to stay consistent with your content – and you’ll never feel like you’re starting from scratch.
However, always consider how you can add true value for your readers. For example, I wrote a lot of book reviews back in the early days of my blog. I’ve recently started re-posting these old posts for my new followers.
This is a great chance to get my blog out to new readers. It also gives me a chance to edit and improve my writing. I make sure to add extra value for anyone reading the post, whether it’s for the first or second time.
3. Nothing is out of bounds
When it comes to content repurposing, there are no limits. Images, videos, blog posts, newsletters, social media posts, website copy, old ideas… they are all open for repurposing.
Look at your current blog posts, website copy and social media channels. What can you use to create a new piece of content? How can you use what you already have to spark an idea?

You could build on something you’ve already written, such as by adapting one blog post into a full series, or you could copy and paste excerpts of your blog post onto your X profile. The world’s your oyster!
