10 Easy Ways to Celebrate Pride Month

I can’t believe it’s already that time of the year again – Pride Month!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t really possible to celebrate Pride Month during the pandemic.

Even though things are still uncertain this year, it’s great to know we can commemorate this special month and celebrate with friends in a way that wasn’t possible last year.

In June 2019, I went to a Pride march in York, and it was such a lovely experience. Granted it was pouring it down with rain, but it was brilliant to feel part of this celebration.

It was so much fun, and I really recommend getting involved in any Pride celebrations this year!

In this blog post, I’ve come up with 10 easy ways to celebrate Pride Month this year.

Bake a Pride treat!

If you’re looking for the perfect way to celebrate Pride Month from home, try baking a Pride-inspired recipe.

You could make a rainbow cupcake using food colouring, or even make cute little Pride flags to stick in your cakes when they’re cooked.

For more, check out these Pride baking ideas that you could try at home.

Decorate Your Home

My sibling loves creating their own bunting to hang around our house on special occasions – and Pride is no different!

If you’re artistic, you could design your own Pride images to hang around your home – or you could even just colour in a nice rainbow to show your solidarity for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Attend a Pride event online

There are not a lot of big events that you can go to in person at the moment – but you can certainly join in with Pride online!

Find out what events are happening online, and understand a bit more about Pride from the comfort of your own home.

Read a book by an LGBTQIA+ author

Reading a book by an LGBTQIA+ author is such an easy way to celebrate Pride Month – and you might end up finding your next best read.

I love reading about life experiences different to mine, and it’s so interesting to read books by a diverse range of authors.

This Pride Month, pick up a book about LGBTQIA+ experiences and learn a little something.

Head to your local march

As long as events are held safely in your local area, an in-person Pride march or event is such a fantastic experience- and such a great way to show solidarity and support for the cause.

Pride marches are positive, inclusive and tolerant spaces for anyone and everyone!

Create a few posters

Pride wouldn’t be Pride without fun, colourful posters to draw attention to the important causes and issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community all across the world.

Use your art and craft skills to create something topical and colourful for your home, window or Pride march.

Research LGBTQIA+ issues

I mentioned this in my post about making the most of Women’s History Month.

Researching and understanding the issues relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community is one of the best ways to properly understand this time of the year – and support any LGBTQIA+ people in your life.

You could also donate to important LGBTQIA+ charities, such as Stonewall and LGBT Foundation.

Get online!

Why not get online and share a recent article about Pride? Or retweet your favourite LGBTQIA+ blogger?

This is such a vibrant, interesting and diverse time of the year – so don’t forget to check out what your favourite social media channels have to offer – and support others online.

Meet up with friends

Meeting up with friends is such a novelty for us all at the moment, so a great way to celebrate Pride Month is to host a Pride event, meet up with friends at an event or even chat online.

It’s so important to surround yourself with people who love, respect and support your values – and find a place to celebrate Pride with them!

Think about your content

If you’re a blogger or YouTuber, think about creating some Pride-inspired content that’s relevant to you!

You could write about your favourite Pride reads, films featuring LGBTQIA+ storylines or come up with some unique ideas for making the most of June Pride.

Do you have any easy ways to celebrate Pride Month this year? What are your Pride experiences? What do you think of my Pride ideas?

  5. Making pride themed food seems like a great idea, you could do cupcakes as you suggested or like rainbow iced covered biscuits. Once the world is back to normal, they make for great office treats
