3 Ways I Grew My Blog in 2020

AD- This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.

As 2020 came to an end just last week, I really had chance to look back at how far I’ve come as a blogger in the past year- and how far I want to go in the next few years.

In 2020, I started to focus on blogging as a way to earn money- and as something I did as a hobby for quite few years before that, blogging is always something I’ve enjoyed a lot!

But I think as a blogger, it’s always hard to know how to grow. Whether your blog is your hobby- or your career- it’s always important to have ideas up your sleeve of how you can grow your following, continue to write creative posts, or (as the case may be) find some sponsored work and influencer opportunities.

It’s taken me a while to know how best to grow my blog- and as a small blogger I’m still learning everyday! But there are certainly a few ways I grew my blog in 2020, helping me reach more visitors and find out more about the blogging market.

Considering My Niche

In 2020, I really started to write about other topics. While I still love writing about books, I also started to write more posts about blogging, writing, and what it’s like to grow your blog in the current blogging and influencing climate.

And I think taking the time to consider my niche- and opening myself to different lifestyle and blogging topics- has really helped me grow my blog in the past year. It’s those type of posts that have been the most popular for me in the past year, and I’ve seen fantastic growth since altering my niche a little to fit with my passions, and my blogging aims.

I think when I first started monetising my site, I was afraid of applying for sponsored opportunities. But in the past year I’ve started to gain more and more opportunities- even those outside my comfort zone- and it’s made me realise that there are lots of ways to earn money from your blog.

I recommend checking out sites that post regular opportunities, as it means you can find relevant and reliable sponsored opportunities without trawling the internet everyday. I’ve loved the sponsored content I’ve been sharing in the past few months, and I’m so excited for what is to come for blogging and influencing in 2021.

Engaging With Bloggers

In the past year I’ve really made an effort to be active online- and the response has been amazing! In 2020 I started connecting with bloggers from all niches, and I’m so grateful for all the support I get on social media, and over here on my blog.

Connecting with other bloggers and influencers has also been instrumental in finding out how I can find out about influencing opportunities over the past year, and grow my blog.

  2. Great tips! 🙂 you are so right about everything but especially the niche one. I’ve been expanding my content to more lifestyle topics instead of just minimalism so I can reach a larger audience.

  7. Great advice! This is I think one of the biggest questions: What to write? You shouldn’t spread your wings too much, and then again not be too exclusive either. Thanks for sharing!
