4 Classic Films I’ve Never Watched

I talk a lot about my favourite films and shows here on my blog, but I came to the realisation the other day that there are so many “classic” films I’ve never actually watched!

These are the kind of films that my followers are always recommending, and the kind of films that always make their way onto “must-watch” lists.

Now, I don’t personally believe you should watch anything just because critics or other recommend it- but these are a few choices I would like to eventually get round to watching in the next few months.

So, these are 4 classic films I’ve never watched- and hopefully one day will get round to watching!

Gone with the Wind

I’ve still never watched this classic film- probably because of the sheer length of it! Based on a turbulent love affair between two controversial characters- and set in the American South during the time of Reconstruction- I think this sounds like the perfect insight to a period of American history. But at 3 hours 58 minutes, I’m not sure my modern attention span can last that long!

Fatal Attraction

This film is definitely one that I mention all the time- and “bunny boiler” is one of my favourite phrases… But I’ve never actually seen the 1980s classic film the phrase is based on! This film is about Dan, a married lawyer who gets into an affair with his colleague, Alex. She soon gets obsessed with him, trying to sabotage his married life. I really want to check out this “classic” film soon!

Pulp Fiction

The two characters from 'Pulp Fiction' dance in a bar while people watch.

I’ve heard so many good things about this one, but I’ve always stayed away from Tarantino because of the violent aspects of his films- and I’m sure this one is no exception. However, I really want to check out this one- even if it’s just for the iconic Travolta dance scene that I’ve seen re-created so many times!

Casablanca

The two characters from 'Casablanca' drink and stare into each other's eyes.

This is one of those films that’s always held up as one of the “greats” and I’ve always fancied trying it- especially as Lorelai raves about it in ‘Gilmore Girls‘! Set during World World Two, a night club owner, Rick, tries to help his former lover, Ilsa, and her husband.

However, Ilsa’s feelings for Rick resurface, and this film is all about the lovers. This film is in black and white, and so that makes it all the more enticing!

Are there any “classic” films you’ve never watched? What is your favourite film? Do you think there’s a film I should add to my never-ending list?

Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below 🙂

Happy reading x

  1. This is a really interesting post because I’d never really thought about that fact I haven’t seen most of these. I’ve seen Fatal Attraction and that was so strange but I quite enjoyed it 🙂

  2. GWTW is a southern classic and being from the south, it is my favorite movie of all time. Of course, it is very long and may be hard to find in DVD now since our government has decided to declare it racist. I really enjoyed The Sound of Music and the 007 movies that I am watching again with my husband. Date night inside the house!

  3. I haven’t seen 3 out of 4 of these. I have seen Fatal Attraction. It’s pretty scary in my opinion. Anything with children involved upsets me though 😥

The rest I really don’t care to watch just because other people have spoiled them.

  4. Except for pulp fiction, I haven’t seen these either. But, I last saw pulp fiction so long ago that I don’t even remember it so it’s kinda like I haven’t seen it. It’d be brand new to me if I tried to watch again. 🙂

  6. I’ve wanted to watch Pulp Fiction for a long time but I guess I’ve never had an interest in classic films so I’ve never really pushed myself hard enough to watch! Maybe I’ll watch a few during the Christmas break xo
