Meet the Blogger: Kyrie Green

Welcome back for another blogger interview 🙂

I’m so excited as today I get to interview one of my favourite acne and skincare bloggers, Kyrie Green.

Kyrie is a fantastic blogger who discusses her acne journey, using her prominent Instagram profile to encourage others to talk about their skin struggles. Looking through her Instagram or reading a few of her posts always helps me feel more positive about my own skin, and Kyrie promotes a positive image of living with acne.

Clear skin should not be “the norm” and Kyrie encourages people to feel happy with their skin, whether they choose to cover their acne with make-up, or choose to show their acne.

So check out Kyrie’s brilliant answers to my questions about all things skincare, acne, and make-up.

When did you first decide to document your experience with acne online?

I first started to document my experience because I hated feeling like I was trying to hide
something from people. I was really self conscious of people seeing my pictures on social media and it looking like I had clear skin when in reality (and if they saw me in a shop somewhere) that wasn’t the case.

Why do you think it’s so important to spread a skin-positive message online?

I think it’s important because so many people have acne and not many people who have
loads of influence show it a lot, like celebrities and influencers. Acne is so normal, and a part of everyone’s life at some point, so of course it needs to be shown more on social media.

Do you encounter many negative comments when openly discussing your experience with acne?

I’ve not really experienced any negative comments from my family, they were very accepting of it, but when I spoke to a dermatologist about my issues she grimaced when I took off my mask and I had a really bad experience with her unfortunately.

When my acne was at its worst, I went to Alton Towers for the day without foundation and I remember seeing people do double takes. That obviously didn’t make me feel good, but I couldn’t blame them because society tells them that acne is wrong and ugly, so how would they know any different?

What is your go-to morning and evening skincare routine?

In the morning I cleanse my face, then use a vitamin c serum, then use a moisturiser, and an SPF. In the evening I use an oil based cleanser then my usual cleanser, then a niacinamide serum and a night cream!

What are your favourite skin-positive social media accounts or YouTube channels?

I follow so many people now on social media but I first started with James Welsh on YouTube and Beauty Within, they really taught me a lot. Then I started following Izzie Rodgers on Instagram and she was so acne- and skin- positive that it really helped too!

What are your Top 3 favourite skincare products?

Purito Green Level Unscented SPF, The Ordinary’s Niacinamide serum, and my Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm.

What is one piece of advice you wish you’d had when you first started struggling with acne?

That it will get better, and even if you think everyone is staring at your acne they probably aren’t.

Thank you so much for featuring on my blog Kyrie, it’s been brilliant finding out about your experience with acne and the positive image you promote!

I’ll have to check out those skincare tips and products, and I think for anyone dealing with acne those are brilliant messages to remember 🙂

  1. This was such an interesting post I’ve never come accross Kyrie’s blog before. I can’t imagine how heartbreaking it must have been to go to Alton towers and get so many double looks x

  3. Yes! I think it’s so annoying that so many people will struggle with acne at some point in their life- but it’s barely mentioned! It’s fantastic, thank you so much for your kind words Kat 🙂 x

  4. Well, I’ll certainly be following Kyrie now! Reading this interview made me feel so SEEN. I’ve struggled with acne and hyperpigmentation for most of my life and it’s always been a massive insecurity of mine – something I’ve been pretty open about on my blog and socials over the years. It’s really nice to know I’m not alone in this and I gotta say I’m grateful for her vulnerability!

    1. Aw I’m so glad Stephanie 🙂 It’s my biggest insecurity too and some days can be hard- and such a big thing that needs to be talked about more, so I’m so glad you’ve been open about your struggles too!

  6. Loved this interview! I was so sorry to hear of the negative experience Kyrie had with her dermatologist – as a professional, that person should have known better! It’s great to see how much skin positivity is building up on social media, though =)
