4 Easy Steps to a Great Blog Post

I love writing about my blogging experiences – and so far, I’ve had really good feedback from the blogging community about how I’ve stepped up my blogging game in the past few months.

So in this blog post, I want to give you 4 easy steps to a great blog post. These are a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up during my time as a writer – but I’d love to hear your tips in the comments, too.

4 easy steps to a great blog post

  1. Find a good title
  2. Make it personal
  3. Remember your readers
  4. Link to other posts

Let’s take a look at each of these steps in a bit more detail…

Find a Good Title

I hate trying to find the perfect title for my posts – but I’ve found I garner more interest from posts with imaginative or “eye-catching” titles that appeal to my audience.

While I don’t necessarily think that titles are everything (the body of your post is your time to shine), titles encourage readers to click on your post in the first place.

Take time to find the right title for your blog post. It’s a good idea to come up with multiple ideas, before deciding – and make sure to use other blog posts online to inform your choice.

Make it Personal

In my experience, readers find posts with a personal touch more interesting. If your readers can relate to what you’re saying, or they can understand your point of view, you’re more likely to increase their enjoyment of your writing.

I also think that making posts personal can be more interesting to write – and I love adding a personal touch to some of my posts, such as the post I wrote on my 21st birthday.

Remember your Readership

It’s so important to remember who’s reading your posts! Your loyal readership should be central to what you’re writing at all times. This doesn’t mean to say you can’t write the odd article about a subject that’s close to you, or something a bit different to your niche.

However, you should always remember that your readership is loyal to you for a reason – and your blog posts should reflect the fact that you understand their needs and wants.

Link to Posts

Placing a few links to your other content can encourage readers to browse around your fantastic site! This is a great way to keep people on your website, and it does wonders for your DA and SEO score.

It also lets your readers find similar content straight away, without having to navigate your site to find what they want.

  3. These are great tips! I think a title is the key to having a successful blog post, as if it’s not interesting or catchy, you won’t get clicks. It’s also super important to make blog links throughout and you’re more likely to increase your traffic with click throughs. Thanks for sharing

  4. I signed up to Skill Share in lockdown but never actually got round to using it, it sounds like I need to make use of my subscription! Coming up with varied, interesting titles is something that I also struggle with, I definitely need to check out that course. Becca x

  6. I honestly believe that a lot of bloggers overlook the impact that your feature photo and headline can have on the overall performance of a blog post. When someone comes across those posts on social media, that’s the first thing that they see. Are you giving them a reason to click through and view your content? Even the best content is going to flop if no one is clicking through to read it!
